About Us

We are a UK-based Living History Group portraying the lives of the members of the 11th (North Devonshire) Regiment of Foot "The Bloody Eleventh" during the Napoleonic Wars, 1803-1815. Primarily based from the South West of the UK, we portray the life of the regiment both military and civilian during the 12 years of the Napoleonic Wars, regularly participating in events locally, around the UK and abroad.

The regiment was founded in 2023 by a couple of passionate history enthusiasts with backgrounds ranging from the roman era, through to the Napoleonic Wars. Living in the South West they noticed that this extraordinary unit wasn't represented within the re-enactment community in the UK, so a passion project was formed to recreate this important regiment and display the lives of the men and women who fought and lived as part of the "Bloody Eleventh" during the early 1800's.

Our group strives to open up the world of Living History to everyone, either as a member of the regiment, a supporter or even a member of public at an event.

We aim to portray all aspects of life within the regiment, not just the rank and file. We welcome camp followers, musicians, traders, surgeons.... anyone who would like to take part in living history and add to the experience of the displays. We want to provide the best experience for our guests at our displays so want to develop our living history display alongside our military displays.

At our events you can experience dramatic gunfire exhibitions, military marching and drill displays, either as a single regiment or part of a much larger fighting force and national events. We camp under canvas, cook over an open fire and march to the beat of our very own fife and drums. We are frequently invited to living history events and large scale battle re-enactments both in the UK and abroad in Europe.

So come, take the kings shilling and join the "Bloody Eleventh" today!
